James Gilbert

User Experience Designer

I am a Senior UX/UI Designer working in Melbourne, with a passion for creating excellent UX strategies and implementations.

I have a successful record in leading a project from commencement through to design, development, deployment and on-going improvement.

Here is a selection of projects I’ve most recently worked on.

For over 15 years in the digital creative industry I’ve worked in various roles, from creating educational software, building apps to design and development for advertising. Now I specialise in UX and UI design.

User centred design

My role is to be the user’s voice, to create the best possible experience for them whilst also maintaining balance with business objectives.

UX workflow and activities

Running workshops, requirements gathering, ideation, prototyping, wireframes, visual design, Information Architecture and usability testing.

Responsive web design

Designing for mobile, tablet and desktop, with a focus on the right interface for each device, whilst ultimately making it look great.

Visual design

I use Figma and Sketch. I have great attention to detail and understanding of design systems, with experience delivering accessibility compliance.

Prototyping & Interaction design

I am skilled in crafting hi-fidelity demos using Protopie, FramerX, Origami Studio, InVision and Sketch. These are invaluable for stakeholders and user testing.

Wordpress development

I have experience designing for WordPress, and making front-end adjustments in code and extensions, e.g. HTML/CSS, Visual Composer and widgets.

I succeed in improving products through iterative process. I participate in digital workflows in an Agile environment, using tools like Trello, Confluence and Jira.

James joined the Experience Design team at Tribal to help on a project. He immediately proved to be an exceptional addition to the team, owning the project from research through to build, leading the project team towards an impressive solution for the client.
James is a critical thinker with a wealth of industry experience and knowledge which he was always willing to share with the wider team. His reliability, passion and dedication to his craft is hard to find and I look forward to working with him again in the future.
